We just got back from making our show debut at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York.
The show was our most successful yet and it really feels like we are progressing as a brand. We learnt a lot from our January show at Maison et Objet (Paris) and although we kept a similar feel for the ICFF stand, we feel that we were able to improve on the last one quite a bit.
We began with two very large blank white walls and all it took was nine hours, sweat, tears and expletives to get it to this stage below.
As you can see, we really wanted to push the Night Flowers wallpaper collection at this show and it really seemed to pay off as it was definitely the product that received the most attention.
It really is very exciting to be able to exhibit at a show alongside some of the best in the business. Tom Dixon, Timorous Beasties, Ercol – they were all there.
We also got to meet or get better aquainted with a whole bunch of other UK brands that you might n0t know such as:
Quirk & Rescue.
Fantastic bold graphic prints that remind me of the work of Peter Saville or Malcolm Garret.
A lovely couple who we had a lorra laffs with.
Designed by fabulous Ashley McDow. Her fabrics and wallpaper convey all that is great about the British countryside topped with a zesty italian twist from her granny’s side of the family.
We loved meeting Dan and his wife Laura, they were such fun to be around. Dan deploys his beautiful illustrations across a variety of mediums. I love his ‘High Wire’ print, it has such an amazing flow and hidden motifs that jump out at you when you least expect it!
Designer Emily Cant had a small selection of her fab work at the show. She designed the ‘Hackney Empire’ print for House of Hackney doncha know.
Great to meet you Emily!
Liqui Design had one of the best stands at the show. (in my opinion)
They design and make some fantastic, innovative products. We met boss – Cameron who was ably assisted by Alex and Oliver. A great bunch of fellas who deserve big success.
All in all it was a great introduction to the U.S market and we can’t wait to go back next year.
We stayed in Brooklyn for the duration of the show, what a great town! We’ll tell you more soon.
