Having been let down by the wallpaper manufacturer we were going to use, this year has been about finding a new manufacturer who could bring our ideas to life.
It also gave us the opportunity to really focus on what we wanted to achieve with our designs and colourways.
One of the ideas I really wanted to push was to create a dark background with a softened matte look. I am a huge fan of Farrow & Ball paints and just love that matte, chalky feel that their paints have. I wanted to create a wallpaper with the same kind of look, that would work well next to Farrow & Ball paints.
Working closely with a new manufacturer and after a couple of factory visits, we have achieved a finish that I love … a deep colour, but with a softness that gives the paper a chalky, almost vintage look.
Keeping the Farrow & Ball colour chart in mind, I also wanted to create colourways that would work with some of the colours I like most on their chart…Railings, Downpipe, Off-Black, and more…
We also took the opportunity to scale up our Fern Forest pattern onto larger, 70cm rolls, to make it even more dramatic, and to rework the light colourway into a new pale-grey neutral called Bone.
